    2024 Rustic Off-Road Rally

    When:  10:00 AM  Saturday 5th October 2024

Location:  1688 Goodwood Road, Capel River

Event Organiser: Jeremy Connor  Mob: 0439 305 772

This is an Indian Harley Club (Bunbury) organised Club Event open to IHC members and members of "Other Historic Clubs" riding pre 1975 machines are also welcome.

    Details at https://ihc.wildapricot.org/event-5561476

"The Rustic Off-Road Rally" is part of the annual Capel River Classic event, which is conducted by the Ironstone Adventure Riding Club and includes a Classic & Historic Motorcycle Show & Shine, a Motorcycle Swap Meet, a Classic Car Display, a bar and food, etc. and here’s a video of the 2023 Capel River Classic event

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEBwwznCtvw

"The Rustic Off-Road Rally" is for pre 1975 road and off-road motorcycles that are either registered under one of the following:

    ·         Code 404

    ·         C4C

    ·         Full A Class road registration

     or

    ·         If your bike isn’t registered, you can still ride the event by applying for an Unlicensed Vehicle Permit when you enter the event, which permits unregistered bikes to be used in a Rally and will be organised by IHC on behalf of the entrant at a cost of. $40.00. See link below for Permit details:

    Unlicensed vehicle permits transport.wa.gov.au

The Course - The Rustic Off-Road Rally starts and finishes at 1688 Goodwood Road, Capel River and the course includes a combination of three different optional routes through the Capel-Jarrahwood state forest. The routes are all fully signed and all you have to do is follow the arrows through the forest at your own pace and you can ride them in any order and as many times as you want:

    1.    Long course of approximately 30km

    2.    Short course of approximately 10km

    3.    Short course with ‘The Hill’ of approximately 10km

All of the routes are run entirely on gazetted, maintained unsealed roads. The 2023 Rally attracted a mix of road and off-road bikes as old as 1926 and as young as 1974 and is definitely suitable for older/historic bikes, even with road tyres, with no sand tracks or "bush bashing" involved, and you definitely don’t need to be a ‘gun’ off-road rider!

The course map/route sheet will be made available on the day & the Rally starts at 10.00am sharp on Saturday 5th October 2024 at 1688 Goodwood Road Capel River.

Recovery Vehicles - Recovery vehicles & trailers will be available in case of breakdowns.

Camping: Free overnight camping is available at the venue.

Food & Bar – A licensed bar and food vendors will be at the event, PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE NO EFTPOS FACILITIES SO BRING CASH $ ON THE DAY

Entry Fee - Entry to the event is free (unless you require an Unlicensed Vehicle Permit, as mentioned above, which will cost $40), and

Pre-entry is preferred, and the entry form is available via this link or the Events Page on the IHC website

    Rustic Off-Road Rally Entry Form v1 08Aug24.docx

PLEASE NOTE THAT ENTRYS FOR UNREGISTERED BIKES CLOSES FRIDAY 20th SEPTEMBER 24 AND THERE IS NO ENTRY ON THE DAY FOR UNREGISTERED BIKES.

So, registered or unregistered, get that bike that’s been hiding in the corner of the shed and give it a run through the forest!

And give me a call if you need any more info.

    Cheers

    Jeremy Connor

PLATYPUS NORTH VIETNAM GUIDED MOTORCYCLE TOUR

    Dear friends

Platypus is delighted to present our next North Vietnam motorcycle tour (ride #14) from 23 October to 6 November 2024, following 13 most enjoyable rides over the past 10 years or so.

Our rides are on modern Honda 150 c.c. off-road machines most suitable to the terrain. The lead rider is the managing director of our local ride partner, Asian Lotus Tours, with a back-up dual cab utility driven by a motorcycle mechanic carrying riders’ gear, supplies for tea and coffee breaks plus any rider who may want a break (and their bike).

The ride, as always, is away from highways, often off the beaten tracks, making for an enjoyable experience mingling with colourful locals whenever possible. Detours and distractions are embraced wherever possible, giving riders an experience normal guided tours miss out on. The emphasis is on a leisurely tour of great places and fabulous country folk. The ride ends at Halong Bay, with a couple of relaxing days on Cat Ba Island to follow.

We have room for 15 more motorcycle riders and 2 passengers in the back-up vehicle (and can organize another back-up vehicle if necessary). Pillion riders can be accommodated if the rider is suitably experienced. Accommodation is a mixture of hotels and ethnic minority homestays with a flash of flash should circumstances permit.

Click here for comprehensive details of this fabulous tour through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Vietnam.

Click here for a video tour of our November – December 2023 tour that followed a similar route.

Indications are that this next ride will sell out. We can hold spots for you for 2 weeks if you contact us indicating your group numbers. Please forward this email to family and friends who may be interested in this tour.

    Best wishes

Some useful information on how you may use your Code 404 Vehicle.

Handbook Link: Code 404 Concessional Licence Information Handbook .pdf

  • 05 Sep 2023 8:27 PM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

Please find below links to the Notes and Guidelines for concessional licensing (404) put out by the Council of Motoring Clubs. (CMC).

For the information of DoT approved motoring clubs, I advise that notes and guidelines on the administration of concessional licensing by clubs, together with a slideshow presentation on concessional licensing (in both PowerPoint and pdf formats) are available for downloading from the CMC's website under the drop-down menu 'Concessional Licensing' (at https://councilofmotoringclubswa.wildapricot.org/concessional-licensing).  The documents are publicly accessible.
