Update For IHC Members

IHC President s Report – 13th May 2020

Due to the current government restrictions associated with the COVID-19 Pandemic there was no general meeting held in April 2020.

A special meeting of the IHC committee was requested by the President on the 13th May 2020 to discuss the impact of the recent easing of COVID-19 restrictions by the government on club activities.

Management of Club Rides

The club committee has reviewed the latest government advice and determined the club sanctioned Sunday rides will remain cancelled until further notice, it was considered that weekday AM&PM rides will be allowed to commence as per the IHC calendar of events with the following requirements:

  • ·         The person organizing the ride will record the names of all riders, to avoid passing around the indemnity form and sharing pens etc.
  • ·         Social distancing and maximum numbers as defined by the government requirements are always adhered to.
  • ·         The club will not be organising stops for morning/afternoon tea.
  • ·         Impromptu rides can continue as previously advised

Committee Meetings

Committee meetings will recommence as per scheduled.

The committee determined that under the current restrictions it would not be responsible or acceptable to try and organise the AGM at the current scheduled date of the 14th July 2020 and has therefore postponed the AGM to the 8th September 2020.

The “OLD” Club Trailer

Approval was given by the club members for the committee to offer for sale the old club trailer at the February General Meeting and I am now pleased to advise that the old trailer has been sold to the highest bidder and above the reserve price.

Club Management Positions

The following management positions are required for the 2020/21 year and I strongly urge members to seriously consider nominating for these positions without these positions the club cannot function:

The Code 404 concessional licence conditions restrict vehicle use as below.

Any recorded event organised by an approved club.

In normal circumstances, the event should be advertised in your club’s newsletter, magazine or website; however use of a vehicle participating in an impromptu event involving one, or more vehicles, may be acceptable, and must be recorded in your club’s official ‘Run Log’.

Please note: an ‘impromptu event’ does not include the use of a vehicle licensed with this concession (including motorcycles) to undertake a Practical Driving Assessment.

Any member wishing to run an event at short notice must notify the Club Captain or other committee member or you can complete the online form using the link below.  All riders participating must complete and sign an Indemnity Form (also available below) which must be forwarded to the Club Captain ASAP after the event.  Both these forms must be completed before the ride commences.  Vehicle use for hire or reward is prohibited and all road rules must be adhered to at all times.  Please show courtesy to other road users.

About us

We are a motorcycle club founded in 1971 to promote the restoration and use of historic motorcycles - those over 25 years old.  Whilst originally focused on Indian and Harley Davidson machines we now support all makes and models of machines.  With the changing times it is now common to see many Japanese and Asian machines as well as the classic European and US brands.

What we do

We hold many events during the year including mid week runs on Wednesdays.  Many of our members have had years of experience repairing and restoring motorcycles so have a wealth of knowledge that they can share.  Our social calendar is also quite busy.  If you would like to help run our club we can always find jobs for willing volunteers.
